Monmouth University officially joined the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference just over five weeks ago. Today, the Hawks prepared for life in their new league with the unveiling of their nonconference schedule, an eleven-game slate that features six home contests and mounds of local flavor as head coach King Rice begins his third season at the helm on the Jersey shore.

The Hawks, led by junior swingman Andrew Nicholas, will open the season at Hofstra on November 8th, as the Pride will usher in the Joe Mihalich era by welcoming Monmouth to Hempstead. Four days later, Monmouth contests its home opener, a November 12th meeting with Penn that will precede a November 18th trip to the Prudential Center to meet in-state rival Seton Hall.

From there, the Hawks will hit the road for preliminary round games in the Barclays Center Classic, first at Carnesecca Arena to face St. John's on November 22nd before making the journey to Penn State four days later. Following the Thanksgiving holiday, Monmouth will host Mississippi Valley State on November 29th in a Barclays Center Classic subregional game, with either Longwood or North Carolina A&T awaiting the next day.

A nine-day hiatus ensues before Monmouth's next non-league game, a December 10th showdown with former NEC rival St. Francis College at the Pope Center in Brooklyn Heights. The Hawks' three final nonconference games are all home tilts, starting with Binghamton on December 14th and ending with Wagner on December 30th, with Tom Pecora and Fordham sandwiched between the two as the Hawks and Rams meet for the third consecutive year on December 21st.

Please continue to follow A Daly Dose Of Hoops throughout the offseason for all Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference schedule news, including a future breakdown of Monmouth's nonconference schedule, which will hopefully feature quotes and insights from head coach King Rice.
