MAAC Monday: Seeding scenarios for Albany, stat leaders, power rankings

The penultimate edition of "MAAC Monday" opens up with a refresh of where each team stands heading into the final weekend of the regular season, and each seeding possibility for the conference tournament at the Times Union Center in Albany. From there, we'll segue into stat leaders and power rankings, where Monmouth's top spot could be at stake after the Hawks' loss to Iona this past Friday. Speaking of the Hawks, they lead off the first segment.

Clinching Scenarios for MAAC Tournament

Monmouth: Has clinched no worse than #2 seed. Hawks own potential tiebreaker against Siena by virtue of their regular season sweep.
Can clinch regular season championship with a Siena win over Iona on Monday, as Hawks would own potential three-way tiebreaker against both Siena and Iona by virtue of their 3-1 combined record against both teams.

Iona: Has clinched first-round bye, and can clinch no worse than #2 seed with a win over Siena on Monday. Gaels own potential tiebreaker against Siena by virtue of their win at Monmouth on February 19.

Siena: Has clinched first-round bye.
Can clinch no worse than #3 seed with a win over Fairfield on Wednesday, and can clinch a share of regular season championship provided they win all of their remaining games and Monmouth loses all of their remaining games, regardless of what Iona does after Monday.
In potential three-way tiebreaker with Monmouth and Iona, Saints would lose out by virtue of Monmouth's 3-1 combined record against both Siena and Iona.
In potential two-way tiebreaker with Monmouth, Saints would lose out after having been swept by Hawks.
In potential two-way tiebreaker with Iona, Saints would own it with a win on Monday, as it would ensure regular season sweep of Gaels. If Iona defeats Siena on Monday, Saints would lose out by virtue of Iona's win at Monmouth on February 19.

Fairfield: Can clinch first-round bye with a Manhattan win over Saint Peter's on Tuesday. Stags own potential tiebreaker over Saint Peter's by virtue of their win versus Iona on January 24.
If Saint Peter's defeats Manhattan, Fairfield can still clinch first-round bye with a win over Siena on Wednesday, or a win over Saint Peter's on Saturday.

Saint Peter's: Can clinch first-round bye with a win over Manhattan on Tuesday. Peacocks would own potential tiebreaker over Manhattan, as a win Tuesday would ensure regular season sweep of Jaspers.

Manhattan: Has not clinched anything yet. Jaspers can finish as high as tied for third, and as low as eighth. A win over Saint Peter's on Tuesday will put Manhattan in No. 5 spot with two games to play.

Rider: Has not clinched anything yet. Broncs can finish as high as tied for fifth, and as low as ninth. Can still clinch a first-round bye, but would need a lot of help.

Canisius: Is assured of competing in an opening-round game on Thursday, March 3. Golden Griffins can finish no higher than sixth, and as low as ninth.

Quinnipiac: Is assured of competing in an opening-round game on Thursday, March 3, in either the 5 p.m. or 7 p.m. slot. Bobcats will finish as either #7, #8, #9, or #10 seed.

Niagara: Is assured of competing in an opening-round game on Thursday, March 3, in either the 5 p.m. or 7 p.m. slot. Purple Eagles will finish as either #9 or #10 seed.

Marist: Has already clinched #11 seed. Red Foxes will play #6 seed in opening-round game on Thursday, March 3.

These tiebreaker scenarios will be updated frequently, both on this site and on Twitter, (@DalyDoseOfHoops) in the days leading up to the opening-round games on March 3.
